How a vacuum insulation panel works
Air carries heat through ordinary insulation.
Air molecules inside the material pass heat from the warm side to the cold side.
A vacuum panel pumps the air out.
The pump empties the fiber glass core. With the air gone, little heat crosses the panel.
A barrier film seals the vacuum.
The multi-layer film keeps air out, which extends the panel’s service life.
The same insulation fits in a thinner layer.
Supertech panels sit in over 15 million refrigerators, where they cut energy use and leave more usable space inside.
